The Terriers have lost four of their last five Championship games to leave them nervously looking over their shoulders at the wrong end of the table.
Huddersfield are six points clear of Saturday's opponents Sheffield Wednesday and Norwood admits it is important that they do not let their Yorkshire rivals drag them into the relegation dogfight.
"Saturday is a big game for us as we want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible," Norwood told Sky Sports.
"We started the season well, but it has been difficult of late as we have suffered a few losses and we have dropped down the table.
"Sheffield Wednesday are down near the bottom and we want to steer clear of them so it'd be massive three points for us if we can get them on Saturday."
Norwood is enjoying life under Town boss Mark Robins and admits the manager is still trying to stamp his mark on the club after arriving last February.
"This is the manager's first full season in charge and he is still trying to put his print on the team," added Norwood.
"He came in near the end of last season and helped us stay up and now he wants to build on that and improve us.
"I am enjoying working under him as he plays a good style of football and I am sure he is the right man to take the club forward."
